The evolution of the perfect soaker

Diaper Soakers or Nappy Covers come in all shapes and styles.

It took me sometime
to settle on just the perfect pattern.

This was taken from a 1940's knitting book.
I only made one and really wasn't that pleased with it.

Then because I'm always looking for something in crochet to
give my hands a rest from knitting I found this.
The leg opening just wasn't what I was looking for.

A better leg opening but who wants to look for the "belt"
to hold up baby's cover because it's been misplaced.

Then I found it. What I consider to be the perfect soaker.
And with some adaptations you can adjust for baby's need.
From a rolled leg to 1" long cuff to 2" (my typical one)

The waist is knit in rib with smaller needles and working up to larger.
This gives the soaker a close fitting waist that needs no belt and stays in place.

This soaker even has a long waist that could cover up baby's tummy or folded over.

And here's a soaker with both a longer waist and longer legs.
